On Thursday, 16th June and Friday, 1st July, 2022, ACTA held two Plenary Council Conversations. These hybrid events occurred at the Holy Spirit Seminary in Brisbane and were live-streamed to a wider audience, with over a thousand participants in the webinar space.

The Plenary Council is one of the most significant events in recent history for the Catholic Church in Australia and has the potential to profoundly affect its future and that of all Catholic organisations in this country.

The Conversations aimed to explore the foundations of differing theological positions on themes that have emerged as central in the Plenary Council and open those conversations to a broad public interested in them.

These ACTA events created a space for an engaging conversation with prominent church leaders, theologians and Council members to explore the theological underpinnings of the themes that emerged during the Plenary process.

First Conversation Speakers: Ms Toni Janke; Bishop Shane Mackinlay; Assoc. Prof. Ormond Rush; Dr Julie Trinidad; Sr Melissa Dwyer FDCC.

Second Conversation Speakers: Archbishop Mark Coleridge, Dr Sandra Lynch; Prof. Frank Maloney SDB; Dr Maeve Louise Heaney VDMF; Archbishop Patrick O’Regan; Dr Frances Baker RSM.
